The pioneering of Foursquare Gospel Church, Olugoke (Abundant-Life Chapel) is a product of the Church planting initiative of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria under the Barley Harvest vision of our father in the Lord Rev. W. A. Badejo the former General Overseer of our movement.
About June 2004, the Idimu Zonal Headquarters Church decided to pioneer another Daughter Church. The Zonal Superintendent Rev. J. S. Oyeniran then asked Rev. Dr. Folarin Afelumo (an Assisting Pastor then at the Zonal Headquarters Church) to lead the pioneering work. They prayed about it and after a lot of struggle with the decision, accepted it as the will of God to lead the work.
The first survey and locations could have taken the Church to Council area, but after much relentless searches, the annex hall of a guest house (Zeb Restaurant) was chosen which was located at 47, Agbogunleri Street, Idimu. We paid for 2 years rent and modified the structure to suit the kingdom work.
The Church was inaugurated and took off on the 14th of September, 2004 with the following pioneer members: 9 card carrying members, 3 students in the Sunday school and 4 babies.
Before the inauguration of the church, the Pastor and his wife prayed and God gave them a clear mission for the church. This led to our mission statement:
To build up a people of faith in Christ Jesus
Strong in the understanding of God’s Holy word
Fervent in the Spirit serving the Lord
Living a life of an over comer over every challenge of life and
Experiencing daily the abundant life Christ gave to His People.
By His grace, this has been the basis of all spiritual activities of the church.
